  6. That dragonfly is huge! I guess they are pollinators. But I better look them up. Don’t they need a river or lake or pond or something ? I associated them with water and boats…..

      They are predators. The larvae live in fresh water lakes, ponds etc eating various aquatic insects, sometimes for several years. Then one day it climbs out of the water up a plant stem . The skin splits and the adult insect emerges. Some swim back and forth over water, picking off insects. Some species like to find a perch on a plant to wait for passing insects, then fly up to catch them. I think they are fascinating!
