This is the final of my Loopy Academy Tag projects, The Solfege Shawl by Annah Burnes. The yarn is Malabrigo sock in cirrus gray. Here is the link to my Ravelry project page.
The pattern was my favorite of the three to knit. Overall it’s an easy knit with a well written pattern. I barely looked at it once I knew the rows. I did have to keep track of rows though to keep the sections equal.
The yarn is fantastic. I love the feel and the color. I expected to see a bit of dye in the bowl when I soaked it but I did not. I’ve had other colors of Malabrigo sock let go of a bit of dye.
This project represents high school (see yesterday’s post if you don’t know the project requirements). Almost every teenager finds music relevant to their life. The music they listen to reflects their thoughts and feelings. The eyelets rows in the pattern represent the eight notes that make up an octave according to the designer.
I plan to reblock this shawl in the fall when it is time to wear it. I want to give it a good hard blocking to give it a long scarf-like shape.
Ah…high school. I listened to jazz and punk rock (the real stuff). I really love the theme of these projects.

Malabrigo is a wonderful yarn. I remember my Solfege book, which I was given to practice sight singing. All music majors must demonstrate that they can sing at first sight in order to get admitted to music school. At least that was the rule back in the ’70s. Fortunately it didn’t give me any trouble.
