WIP Wednesday: Tongue In Cheek Edition

Cookies!

I am currently working my way through this plate of freshly baked cookies. I predict with the help of the folks I live with there will be an empty plate by the end of the week. We are expecting a dumping (10-24 inches they say) of snow so I predict hot cocoa and cookies will be necessary to fuel the shovelers.

This recipe, which I discussed here in the past, is one of my favorites. They always remind me of my mother who baked them at holidays. I didn’t have any almond extract so I added a bit extra vanilla. The almond extract is a tasty addition though so I suggest it. Enjoy! They’re worth the effort they require.

Oh. I haven’t knit a stitch in a couple of days. Between the Covid craziness (stop killing small businesses, let them open, people can decide to visit or not. We don’t need a nanny state taking care of us. We are Americans.), the holiday prep (which I’m ignoring) and the ongoing election shenanigans (let’s be honest, there was fraud. CNN won’t tell you that because they don’t want you to know.) I don’t have the bandwidth in my head.

Warm cookies and hot chocolate might solve all of those problems, at least until dinner! That’s a lot of snow you are expecting, and I feel your pain with the closings and ridiculous baby sitting going on. We are so lucky here in SD.

  4. I feel like baking cookies but I can’t decide what to make. Too many recipes, not enough time.

Those cookies would have been gone the minute they cooled!!! I hear you on the issues of the day, I am done with all of it! Stay warm!, and dry if possible. We got maybe 2″ and it’s mostly done.

Oh, Karen…I could have written this post myself! Everything you say resonates. We would make those cookies each holiday. We call them Merry Cookies! I agree with the small businesses. We are not idiots (just pissed), I have learned that one of the Christmas gifts I ordered will actually be here in time for Christmas. Thankfully we celebrate until the Epiphany! CNN is the worst. Actually, there isn’t a single site I trust any longer-that’s no exaggeration. It is a casualty of the recent election.
Now that we have commiserated on our shared woes, put the kettle on and enjoy those cookies!

Wow I respectfully disagree with everything you said. But you’re still my friend. And also I don’t disagree with those cookies and Cocoa
