When I knit a pattern, this one is a 4 row repeat where the odd numbered rows are the same and the even is slightly different but completely different than the odd, I often shorten it to a few words in my head. It’s my shorthand of knitting. Unfortunately when I get going sometimes the words I pick for my shorthand cause me to make a mistake. I may have a mistake in the stitch pattern here but since the stitch pattern isn’t readily visible and the stitch count is correct I’m going with it. It doesn’t matter. The overall visual will be the same.
The color of the yarn in this photo may be the closest to correct. Maybe it has a teeny bit more yellow, a buttery yellow not a bright sunshine yellow.
My MIL passed away yesterday after a long slow decline. While we are saddened by her passing, we are glad she is no longer in pain. I may or may not be around every day. It depends on where we are needed.
The shawl is looking great. Its difficult to see the emerging pattern with that colorway, but the texture is still beautiful to behold.
I’m sorry to hear about your MIL. Expected is not the same as lacking in grief and sadness. Be well.

This mottled fabric is really effective, it’s going to be a great accessory. Sorry about your MIL, but glad that her struggle is over. It was the same with my MIL this summer; a sense of relief for her and my BIL, who has had the brunt of the care and stress. Blessings to all of you, there is still grief to deal with, just in a different way from and unexpected passing.

First of all, I am so sorry for your loss. You’re well aware of the decline my own mother went through before she passed away. As another commenter put it, just because it was an expected loss doesn’t make it any less painful. I hope you and your family will cope as well as you can. My mother’s passing left me not wanting to knit for a while, not so much out of grief but because caring for her left me kind of fatigued and I think my body needed some time to process the loss and it was telling me I needed to focus on myself for a little while. You and your family may process it differently, no two people grieve the same way.
I got kind of lucky in that I can memorize short pattern repeats pretty much as-is once I’ve completed a few repeats of a knitting or crochet pattern. Much more complicated ones I have to use written patterns or a chart, but I’ve gotten the hang of those.
