My Brain On Saturday

My brain is full of yarn and cowls and patterns and colors. It’s a great way to start the weekend.

At the top is the Klickitat Street Cowl. I completed another part of the pattern. This one has an overload of bright color.

At the bottom is The Secret Handshake MKAL cowl. You’ll notice I have it in a very difficult to see position. I don’t want to spoil the mystery for anyone who is participating. More importantly I don’t want to anger Sharon from Security, the cat who is hosting the KAL and the designer of the pattern. The last thing I need is a citation for bad knitting behavior.

Once I get my errands and chores done I’ll be sitting down to work on my projects. They’re what’s on my brain today. What’s buzzing around your brain today?

    • I prefer cowls to scarves. I find that I often look like I’m being strangled by a scarf. They never lay correctly with a jacket. I’ve caught them in zippers. They just don’t work for me. A cowl, particularly a closer fitting one, keeps the wind off my neck without getting in the way. If you haven’t tried one I’d suggest starting with a small one, not the huge long ones that require twisting to wear. I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised how warm they can be without being cumbersome.

Those colors are going to be really fun together. Looking forward to seeing this evolve.

  3. I’m knitting on my simple garter stitch cowls while dreaming of cowls. I got my yarn organized for the Secret Handshake and I also bought several new yarns from Hue Loco so I can knit a Klickitat Street or two. Okay, I bought 7 skeins of yarn while dreaming of a cowl… there might be some socks coming. Anyway, I’m dreaming of cowls because I’m up at my son’s for the weekend and his cat views me as a giant cat toy.

  4. I’ve started staring at the sock and a half my aunt handed on to me. Can I figure out how she knit the first one well enough to duplicate it? I usually do toe up – these are top down. Will the finished pair fit my brother-in-law? Or should I take out the too long toe on sock one and keep them for myself – not first choice of color, but good wool and warm. Meanwhile, I have another couple of inches of plain knitting before getting to where I have to do the heel.

The next thing on my needle will be a cowl for a Christmas gift. After seeing how much fun you’ve had knitting yours so far I’m now toying with the idea of changing to the Klickikat cowl need to decide what to do!

I love your cowl colors, both of them. I think knitting is on the agenda today, as well as some embroidery.

Love all those colors! I think a cowl is the perfect thing to use them for – it is small enough to not overwhelm with color, but brighten your day!

  8. Two beautiful cowls going! I’m looking forward to seeing more of them, but definitely don’t want to get you in trouble with Sharon from Security 🙂

  9. I can’t get enough of that grey and luminous cowl! I don’t think that I would have thought to put those colours together but they look amazing!
