WIP Wednesday: Why, Just Why?

As I’m sure you can tell I’m still working in reverse. Why is tinking so much slower than knitting? I’d be tempted to just whip the needle out and rip back if I wasn’t carefully counting the rows so that I end up where I belong.

I’ll be over here trying to get my project back in the right direction. How is your project going? The right way I hope.

  1. If I have to go back more a bit then I get some thinner cotton yarn or strong sock yarn scraps and a tapestry needle and then pick up with the needle the stitches below the row with the error. Then you take your needles out, rip back whilst counting the rows you are ripping and then when you get to the row on your waste yarn you re-thread your needle. There are videos on YouTube showing which side of the stitch to pick up with the tapestry needle, but even if you pick them up on the wrong side you can just knit through the back loop and they’ll right themselves. I hope that makes sense.

  2. Tinking is always painful. My projects are going OK, though not as quickly as I’d like – as usual 🙂

My sock remains stuck. It’s too hot to knit. Waiting for some lower temp.

I hope you get to a good place on this soon. Tinking is so frustrating. Work has been intense so I haven’t been knitting as much.

  5. It’s all part of the process – forward or back, it’s all part of the fun. I’m wondering which of the many projects I have in front of me to do next – finish an old one with no intended recipient? Start a new pair of socks? Something else with stash yarn from the backlog of interesting looking patterns?

I started a new one and had to frog twice and then rip back later on. I think I got the hang of it now.
