Even though the temperature was in the 90’s yesterday I was in the mood to bake. First I made some English Muffin bread using this recipe. I’ve used this recipe, which actually comes from the Kitchenaid mixer cookbook, for years. It is so good toasted with butter and jam. My knitting neighbor brought me a jar of blueberry jam that she made so that was my breakfast. It was delicious!

Since I already had heated up the kitchen I figured I may as well make the cookies I’ve been thinking about. These are Drop Sand Tarts. The quick version of the recipe is : mix 3/4lbs of butter , 2C sugar, 3 eggs, 1 tsp vanilla until creamy and smooth. Sift together 3C flour and 3/4 tsp baking soda. Add to the first mixture. Drop by teaspoonful on greased baking sheet. Bake at 350f for 10 minutes or until delicately brown. They are so good with a cup of tea or an ice cold glass of milk.

    I honestly haven’t baked anything since the start of quarantine. I am an avid cook and cook dinner nearly every night (even before quarantine). I am not much of a baker. My new thing though is zoodles. Zucchini style noodles made with a veggie spiralizar. They are fantastic!

    Yummm! Definitely try that bread. I have been buying my treats from the local Orange Leaf. There is a desert maker who has a kiosk in the store. Today I got 2 slices of cheesecake!!

  7. I made freezer cinnamon rolls this morning, because we are cleaning out the chest freezer. I plan to get back to baking in the new house.

    It was so hot here last week I actually baked the bread in the bread machine, but Wednesday was cool and rainy so I made cinnamon rolls.

    I like the crusts of your bread. Everything sounds yummy in this post. I prepped chocolate chip cookie dough which is now in the frig for an hour. I have the stove timer running.

  12. How fortunate you are – a knitting neighbor who brings gifts of blueberry jam! I’m still churning out pound cakes. The most recent one is with raspberries and semolina.
