My Own Self-Created Stress

Timing is not my strong suit. I tend to think I have way more time than I actually do. I’ll be paying the price for that over the next few months.

I’m making pretty good progress on the shawl. I’m not yet ready to start the second skein of yarn but I’m also not that far away from finishing the first skein. Pretty much I’m on target.

I picked out my August project and ordered the yarn. I’ll talk about the details once the yarn arrives. All I want to say here is that the project I’ve picked is about 900 yards. That I’ll have to knit during August.

Don’t forget I’ve still got Arachne to finish. I do hope to wear it during October. I’ve got quite a bit more to go on that.

Plus there is my long term (fortunately!) sock yarn blanket. Hopefully I’ll find some time to squeeze a few squares in on that.

The Husband’s nephew and his wife have announced the arrival of their third child in the fall. I knit the first two boys blankets. I’ll be doing another for this boy too. That is another project for the pile.

So we are talking about approximately 3200 yards of yarn that I’ve got to get knit by the end of October. It sounds totally doable but it makes my heart beat a little bit quick just thinking about getting it done.

  1. You must be a speedy knitter, I don’t think I could achieve 800 yards a month knitting…perhaps I should calculate my best month. Do you knit continental (pick) style or English (throw)?

  2. Deep breath. Do what you can, too much stress in this world right now. Don’t add to yours.

I over estimate what I can accomplish, for me not to overwhelm myself is my person key. I admire how quickly you can knit and so lovely…If you need a cheerleader I volunteer to cheer you on to victory — which I know you can achieve!!! Oh, do I hear your needles clickin’ along now .. You go girl!!! (smiles)

  8. That shawl is growing so much – the couch cushions give relative scale. It’s going to be huge, cushy, warm – and you will so enjoy the finished product!

You are ambitious. Congratulations on becoming an aunt again. Is that what you will be? Cousin? Aunt? Thrice removed?

I feel your pain! I have way too many wips, many are large projects, and all are things I want finished sooner rather than later. I am focusing on one at a time and getting them finished because I really want to cast on another sweater! But I refuse to do it yet. Must finish two more things…
