Sock It To Me Monday: Socks and Sharing Edition

I am pleased to say I picked up the sock yesterday. I spent a couple of hours finishing the toe, unpicking the crocheted cast on and picking up the stitches and starting up the leg. Undoing that cast on and picking up the stitches took a lot longer than I expected. It wasn’t bad though.

The next section has some decreases and then just straight up the leg to the cuff. Mostly mindless knitting which I need since the next sock will be starting at the crazy heel again. I’ve got to get mentally prepared for that.

I’ve got a little something to share that I got from H. She shared this link to the Winchester Mystery House. They are offering an online tour for free until April 7. When H visited the house a few years ago she said the tour was fantastic. I hope you’ll enjoy it if you have time to take a look. Have you come across any free online entertainment that you’d like to share? Please leave a link in the comments or if you’ll be blogging about it leave a link to your post. We’ve all got time and this is a great opportunity to learn something new or share something you’ve enjoyed with others.

  1. That sock looks great! I will have to give it a try once I get through the way too many projects I am already trying to work through.
I have been watching a lot of opera while working from home – The Met has a free one every day, but there are tons of full operas on YouTube as well!

Here are some things I like:

If you have a library card you may have access to Hoopla Digital. You can download the app It allows you to download music albums, movies, audiobooks, for free. They have courses that will teach you different languages, about ancient civilizations, or many different things. They limit downloads per month depending on the library.

Overdrive also works with libraries and you can download and read books for free. There are no limits.

With RBDigital you can download and check out magazines.

Librivox.org is a free website, where volunteers create audiobooks. All work is in the public domain, but you can find great works such as Sherlock Holmes, Mark Twain, etc.

Project Gutenberg has free public domain e-books.

I like to listen to podcasts. You can find them about anything. I like to listen to an “Unsolved Mysteries” podcast.

  6. That heel really looks like the heel on store bought factory made socks, only on a larger scale. I always wondered how those were made. Bravo!

  7. Your sock is looking great!
Also, thank you for sharing the link to the Winchester Mystery House – one of my great past travel regrets is missing on visiting this attraction. In a former job I sometimes worked at a site in San Jose, CA and kept meaning to visit, but just never quite made it. I have been kicking myself about that for years, and now here is my chance to sort of visit!

  13. It looks like a proper sock! Will there be fancy-ness on other parts of the sock or just the heel?
