With Mostly Full Confidence

I know this doesn’t look like much. And it surely doesn’t look like a sock. But it will be eventually, I hope.

Over the weekend when I wasn’t distracting myself from the craziness that is the news and the togetherness that is time with my family I knit. I even crocheted. I know it’s like the world is spinning backwards or something. I happily finished the heel which turned out as nicely as I could hope. I then moved on to the next instruction which involved a provisional cast on. I was going to try doing a knit one but the pattern included a link to Lucy Neatby’s provisional crochet cast on so I went to take a look. It’s a great video for a visual learner like me. It was clear and had just enough words to bring me into the crochet provisional cast on cult. Next time you have to do provisional cast on give it a go. You’ll be a convert too.

Anyway once I had the full compliment of stitches on my long circular needle it dawned on me that this was a perfect time to go back to the double pointed needles that I prefer. I’ve got a few rows of the instep done and should hit the foot before too long. From there it’s back up to the instep to work north towards the cuff. This unconventional construction is crazy. Just like what’s going on in the outside world.

I’m not sure what a crochet cast on is. I’ll have to Google it.

  4. I am going to enjoy seeing this sock progress. It is so unusual. The crochet provisional cast on is the best. It is really easy to take out and pick up the stitches too, which I like.

  5. The heel looks very neat! I am really interested to see how this sock turns out – I cannot imagine how it is going to progress from here! I like the crochet provisional cast on too. Great technique!

OMGosh, I think that pattern would give me fits. It’s already enough for me to start toe up with Judy’s Magic Cast On. I had gotten the husband’s tippy toes done in a day and it seemed like it took forever. I understand how long you have worked on this heel.

Uh-oh. Mine looks nothing like yours. Time to panic. I’m doing a cuff down though so am praying it might take a turn for the better once I make sense of how to do short rows.

You’re doing an amazing job. That yarn is beautiful. I do look forward to seeing your inspirational progress.

    Be well.
