Why does the weekend just fly by? It seemed like it was Sunday night before I’d accomplished even one thing. Laundry and groceries are done so that is something.
I didn’t spend as much time as I had hoped knitting over the weekend. This was a couple of sittings and a few fast stolen rows. The pattern is There and Back Again Socks by Dawn Cottone. Funny thing. I love colorwork patterns. They are just so pretty. Unfortunately I don’t like knitting them. Why do I keep knitting them? Maybe I’ll learn to love it.
How was your weekend? Did it just fly by for you too?
When doing colour work do you hold your 2nd thread continental and pick that and English (throw) the main colour? If I do it that way I enjoy it, if I do both yarns the same way I just get in tangles and frustrated.

I’m doing it the frustrated tangled way. I just can’t get equal tension working one continental and throwing with the other.

Very pretty pattern! I love working multiple colored patterns. ♥ I was afraid to try for the longest time and was stunned at how easy once I did it. 🙂 Slows things down just a wee bit, though.

I hold my main thread continental, and depending on how close, either continental the 2nd color on my middle finger or throw it. That fade is so pretty!

I agree, I love looking at color work, not a fan of knitting it :P. I bet that pattern would make a beautiful hat!

I hold both in my right hand. If you are not getting the right tension by holding in both hands, try just 1 hand and pick up and drop as needed. I actually hold 1 strand over index and 1 over middle finger. When it’s time for the middle finger strand I use my right thumb and middle finger to engage the strand. It’s a weird method but it works for me.

Weekends are never long enough for my liking, and this last one flew by because we were busy sorting out my flat. Oh well, time to book a holiday to look forward to.

If you are getting different tensions using two hands, try having the yarn travel differently over your fingers. For me to get even tension, the yarn is wrapped once around my little finger on the right hand, and over little, under two middle, over finger on left hand. There are so many ways people tension yarn, but it’s pretty easy to change that to make tighter or looser. I LOVE doing color work, and now that I’ve figured out how to get even tension, it goes really smoothly.
Life, to say nothing of weekends, is flying by! I went Saturday to exchange some luscious wool/silk yarn for a colorway I like much better, and it was on sale so I was able to exchange two skeins for four! Don’t know what I’ll do with it, but it sure feels nice.

That’s me with cables. I love the look of them. I don’t live knitting them.

Weekends always fly! And I agree with you on color work. It looks pretty but I don’t love it.
