Or just an excuse to buy yarn and knit socks.
I have jumped excitedly back on the Loopy Grad School bandwagon. I will be continuing with my previous major, socks. It is what I’m passionate about knitting so I may as well go with it.
My yarn order arrived yesterday. Can you tell by the color palette that we are deep into the gray days of winter. I have stepped outside my usual gray/black/navy shades. From left to right the skeins are:
JulieSpins half pint in orchid
JulieSpins half pint in magenta
Western Sky Knits Aspen sock with nylon in flirty owl
JulieSpins half pint in winter sky
JulieSpins half pint in totally red
The requirements that I have chosen for my three projects are:
A pair of socks with unusual construction (seamed, grafted, started in the middle, etc)
A pair of socks using a slipped stitch pattern
A pair of socks featuring a colorwork design.
One of the options is to design your own pair of socks. This option is very tempting and maybe if I get through the first two pairs and have enough time I’ll give it a try.
I have two patterns decided already and will cast on later today. More about those later.

I’m not much on pinks and purples, but I love the “flirty owl” – you’ll be able to find them when they fo missing!

The flirty owl looks great and has a great name. I couldn’t say no to that combo.
