Split Time

I have been dividing my time between knitting and reading. It’s a real struggle for me to balance two things I really enjoy. The best way to handle it was to set a goal for the sock and once it had been reached move on to reading. I completed the heel flap, heel turn and picked up the gusset stitches. It took a bit over an hour or so. At that point I rewarded myself 7 chapters. I figure if I continue this way I’ll keep up with the knitting and read the book slow enough to savor it.

I recently started a cross-stitch project. So I understand your struggle when it comes to dividing time. 🙂

The sock is looking wonderful! I have had the urge to read this week, and have been trying to balance that as well. Next week will be so cold, it will be much easier.

I know exactly what you mean about competing diversions, and i also use a similar self-reward device, lol. Love that sock!

That’s a nice sock! I do struggle with getting some reading time in. I’ve now started to focus on reading while doing my teeth so I end up brushing for about five minutes each time. It only works with ebooks really though. Love those socks!

  7. I like that plan. I might borrow that idea from you tonight, as I really want to knit and I really want to read my book.

I try to bribe myself with stuff, but I usually just ignore the bribe and keep sewing/knitting. LOL!

Oh it’s so hard to balance the two! I have managed to read an ebook while knitting something simple. Glad you’re finding a way to fit both into your life!

I have picked up a novel lately as well called September by Rosamund Pilcher. It’s a bit of a mystery but I love the way she involves her characters and it seems appropriate for this time of year. I’ve read the book probably 25 times but not lately so it’s a treat to slowly savor at the end of the day, only at the end of the day.
