I Should Know Better

On Monday when I went grocery shopping I was weak and I added this innocent looking box of cookies to my cart. They’re simple, plain old fashioned cookies that I used to have when I was a kid. Every few years I am sucked into buying them because of the nostalgia. But these are evil cookies. I lose all self control once the package is open. I just keep eating another one and another one until the box is gone. It is beyond my control. What food makes you lose all self control? Please say you have one.

One? One food that makes me lose all self control? Hahahahaha! Let’s see, I’ve cream, chocolate cake, Skittles…. Thankfully it is only certain kinds of ice cream and only one chocolate cake (I’m looking at you, Costco) so it’s easy to not add them to the cart, but every once in a while I somehow manage to justify a purchase. Then it’s “let the shame spiral begin!” 😉

Biscuits. Bourbons and Nice biscuits. They are the work of the devil (and I’m an atheist!). You (I) can’t eat one. I have to eat at least three. So I don’t eat them at all any more. I miss them but I lost ten pounds in six months, so I guess I win. Smug doesn’t begin to cover it.

  3. It’s green chili season here, and the grocery store is selling Hatch green chili cheese dip in the produce section of the store with fresh store-made corn chips. I can’t help myself… I keep loading up on green chili cheese and chips, and somehow they just keep vanishing once I get them home so I need to go get more.

I agree with evoknits – “one” food? Haha! Let’s see… chocolate, cheese (definitely cheese), thin mints (or other cookies), biscuits… Okay, I’m just gonna admit I’m a foodie.

  11. I have thousands of foods I have no self control with. Sugar wafers are one of them. I recently made the mistake of thinking I could try a package of hazelnut chocolate sugar wafers and I would only eat one serving a day. I was wrong.

Those sugar wafers have the same effect on me. I have to stay away but sometimes I am in that state of mind and make the bad decision to stick them in the cart and I’m a goner.

  17. Thin mints. Serving size is 1 sleeve – I don’t care what the box says! Those sugar wafer cookies you have there. I’m sure there are others, but those are the ones I can think of right now.

Custard cream biscuits. Oh my. It’s like a disease where I have amnesia. I open a packet and in no time at all, they are gone. I swear, I can’t remember eating them…
