A trip to the western part of my state requires a knitter to visit Webs. The gravitational pull is unavoidable. When a knitter knows that they will enter the county where Webs is located the car they’re in just goes there. Yarn screams to be pet and the skeins that stick to the knitter have to go home with them. Well, maybe that’s just me.
I did really well constantly reminding myself that I have a new project waiting to be cast on and multiple bins of stash. Honestly a lifetime supply of stash. I pet lots of skeins, admired the beautiful colors and lovely sample projects. Somehow I managed to unstick the new shades of Koigu that kept trying to come home with me. Go look if you dare.
I had done some research before I left home. I had formulated a plan: one skein of lace weight for an epic project that I’ve been thinking about. I had even picked out the skein from their web site so I wouldn’t be tempted by something else. Above is the skein of Hikoo Merino Lace light in a light gray.
The plan is to knit Evenstar by Susan Pandorf. It’s been on my radar for like forever. It’s going to be one of those long term back burner sort of projects. Well, that’s the plan.

You are not alone…….woolswaps are dangerous for me because I have to go shopping. When I tell my family I’m going somewhere they tell me where the yarn shops are lol. That reminds me, I must have a look at the places I’m going on holiday next month. I often don’t have a plan when I do venture into a lys and that doesn’t seem to make a difference to what I end up with….

You showed remarkable discipline! It’s easy to get lost in the wonderfulness that is Webs. When I worked in Northampton for a year and commuted from greater Boston each week, I smiled each time I drove by but resisted the urge to go in — except for a couple of times!

Oh yes. The pull is real. I live one town over from Webs and a good friend lives a mere two streets over from Webs (walking distance). It’s a test of our willpower at almost all times!

Hmmm. The Loopy Ewe is (only) 1.5 miles from where my daughter lives. We’re driving to visit her in October. I wonder if she and I can go together while Mr. Aitch watches the three grands? Or if I can take a few hours to get away by myself….

Yes! Go! Let them know you’ve never been there. They are so nice. They have fabric too. I recommend you set aside an afternoon:)

As far as acquiring yarn, my favorite term for that is, SABLE: Stash Acquisition Beyond Life Expectancy. HAHAHA
I’ve never been to Webs tho it’s on my bucket list. I have been to the Mall of America 3 times and never got off the main floor, lol, but I went with my children and couldn’t tear them away from the rides :P.

The yarn you chose is perfect for the pattern, and now I’m thinking that might be a fabulous gift for Girl #1, who is a fan! She even arranged one of the themes for string ensemble when she was in HS. It looks challenging. Now that yarn, oh it is stupendous…those colors😍

I mapped out how far it was to The Loopy Ewe in CO and then wondered if I could talk my husband into driving there for a vacation destination:) Yeah, it didn’t happen.

Oh, come on! Colorado is a fantastic destination for a family vacation! Rocky Mt. Nat. Park? Telluride? 12,000 foot mountain passes with no guard rails? Amazing institutions of higher knowledge? Gold rush towns? Elk and bears? Surely you can find something to tempt the rest of the family (and get you within range of Loopy Ewe!)

Oh, I understand!!! I have been there once and I went with a firm plan and a tight budget. It worked out but it wasn’t easy. If I lived closer it would be very expensive!

I made the pilgrimage to Webs, too, and came home with the yarn and weaving draft from which I wove my favorite shawl. Such a cool shop!

My car pulled into the WEBS parking lot the only time I was in that part of Massachusetts, even though it was a Sunday and I knew they were closed…..
