No Joy

I tried the sock on and while the leg fits fine the foot is huge. I could rip back to either the gusset decreases and do more or go back to the ankle and adjust from there. But I don’t think I’m going to. I’m not thrilled with sport weight socks. I think the yarn would be happier being something else. Maybe a cowl. Maybe anything else. The yarn is going into time out and I’ll consider my options.

  1. 🙂 If it does not give you joy……….. Time to take it off the needles and make something else with it. Cowl or hat, or very cozy mittens for those very chilly days.
Enjoy the weekend, and keep warm.

  2. Interesting how the colours have pooled on the foot section. But if you aren’t keen then 2nd sock syndrome may strike lol

Sorry about your sock. I hate when a project disappoints.

  4. Sorry that your sock didn’t turn out how you liked. I know how frustrating that can be. I love that you put your yarn in a “time out”, LOL. I am sure it will behave much better when it is time to come out again.

Time out, I love that! You can work on that lovely baby blanket while you consider.

I guess it didn’t “spark” joy? Sorry, I couldn’t help myself. LOL!

  7. I’ve put yarn in “time out” before, and it’s quite liberating. Plus you can get the added benefit of rediscovering it at a later date!

  8. Oh no! So disappointing, but better to stop and consider rather than plug on and still be disappointed. Revisit later is a good plan.

Yes, I think the yarn is telling you it wants to be something else. My suggestion is to frog the entire sock and let the yarn sit for a bit in the stash. It will tell you what it wants to be.

🙁 I love the yellow. Maybe it would be a nice spring cowl.

  12. Only you can make the yarn string become a thing….that’s the beauty of it

I think I would do the same. Put it aside and revisit later. I think a cowl would be lovely too.

  14. Aw! So frustrating! And it was looking so great, too! Oh well – it will become something else soon 🙂

  15. Sock option: frog back to the gusset decreases and add more decreases until the foot is the right size. Maybe that will change the pooling you don’t like, and you will have some warm socks. I have never knit socks with sport weight yarn, They must be very warm!

Sorry it brings you no joy but you are making a good decision to frog and use the yarn for something else.

Yep, been there. Actually I am there. And I’m punishing myself right now I’m making myself finish the new sweater from the old sweater until I start on anything else. I’m on the last sleeve thank God. Sadly I don’t really like this yard anymore
