Tea Talk

I picked up some ginger lemon tea when I was sick. It has become a habit to have a cup in the evening a few nights a week. Now I’m wondering what other flavors of caffeine free tea I would like. I bought some peppermint and only find it to be ok. It’s a bit too pepperminty for me where it has no chocolate to cut the flavor. What kind of tea do you like? Which flavors do you recommend I try?

  1. Hello there, what a fun post! I grow teas. Lemon Verbena is my fav. Nothing like a fresh cup. I also grow chocolate mint, lemon balm, peppermint, spearmint, lemon grass and catnip tea. I bring some to work to share with my co-workers, give most of it, dried, as gifts around the holidays, birthdays, etc.. If I buy some at the store – I go for Harney & Sons Tropical Green and I also love Jasmine Green. Nice to meet you!

I have been trying herbal tea in the evening too! I just got some chamomile vanilla honey from Celestial Seasonings that I like, and I like Orchard Peach and Cinnamon Apple.

If you can do milk, I’m a fan of Sleepytime Vanilla steeped in hot milk with a little sweetener. I use sugar or honey and pop it in the microwave for two minutes.

My next door neighbour (the lovely one) has got me hooked on spicy chai, mixed with normal breakfast tea (to soften the taste) and a splash of milk. Mmm.

  7. We are big time herbal tea people! You may want to think about buying a few sampler boxes to check out your options. Celestial Seasonings has a fruit tea variety pack and an herbal one. I’m pretty sure I’ve seen a Stash Tea sampler as well.

  8. Have you tried hibiscus tea? It’s a fabulous, dark-pink colour and quite astringent. But I’m sure you could add a teaspoon of honey to lessen the astringency.

My favorite tea herb from the garden is Anise Hyssop. My favorite herbal teas are Numi chai rooibos, Aveda comfort tea, and my own blend which we sell at Haven Herbs called Cool Yer Jets. We also have a Comfort and Joy tisane that is delicious. Haven Herbs blends are loose teas so you would need a tea strainer.

I find it hard to walk into a grocery store and find an herbal tea I like. I don’t like acidic teas with lemon or hibiscus.

There are so many herbs and flavors, I guess I would like to know what your favorite flavors are for guidance.

I’m caffeine free and I’m always looking out for nice teas here in the UK. I like mixed berries and red fruits along with ginger and lemon. Liquorice ones are great! I found some loose leaf decaffeinated English breakfast tea recently after sampling some in a cafe. It cost a lot compared to tea bags but the flavour is worth the extra expense and the faff of dealing with tea leaves.

  12. Tazo has an herbal iced lemon loaf that tastes like cake, which I love. I also like Raspberry Zinger from Celestial Seasonings. If I’m feeling crazy I’ll have decaf constant comment.

I like the tea you’re drinking now. The classics like chamomile and peppermint are great when you’re not feeling well. A lot of people like Rooibos tea. It’s non-caffeinated. Sometimes there’s nothing better than a good old fashioned cup of black tea, like Barry’s or Tetley Bold.

My favorite herbal teas are Pomegranate Pizzazz by Bigelow, Apple Cinnamon (I use the store brand but I’m sure any brand would be good), and one I don’t need to add any sweetening to, tho you can if you want, is Egyptian Licorice by Yogi, you do need to like licorice tho :P. For an upset stomach I usually gave a ginger herbal tea. I do like Peppermint tea. And I have to say if they ever invented a chocolate tea I would be all over that one!! 🙂

I tried green tea with lemon and melissa. I’m not over the moon about it, but with these things I find it takes a while for me to judge properly. I’m a big fan of black tea, so everything different I need to get used to.

My favorite tea in the world is Good Earth Original, which is also available in a caffeine-free version. Cinnamon-y, spicy, so good I could almost chew it.
