Revisiting A Knit

I’m not a good wearer of my knits. I’m pretty much over them once they’ve been bound off and blocked. That is until I’m cold (the thyroid doctor lowered my synthroid dose again so now I’m perpetually freezing and tired but my blood pressure is super low and he considers that the be all). The Husband and I have been outside a lot and I’ve been unable to easily tolerate the near freezing temperatures, even with a winter coat, hat and gloves. So I dug deep into the cedar chest and pulled out a warm wool sweater from the past.

I first cast this Elizabeth Zimmermann Yoke Sweater on in 2009. The first version was ripped and I cast on and started over in 2010. It isn’t the best fitting sweater. The yoke style doesn’t work real well with my ample for my size boobs. What this sweater does have going for it is warmth. It is way too warm for inside wear but outside it is perfect on a chilly fall day and just what I needed for 3 hours of Pokemon Go playing on the common in town. Along with the sweater I also wore a knit hat, fingerless mitts, cowl and socks. I guess I do live up to my Pokemon Go name Nothingbutknit.

  1. Good for you for keeping with the sweater even though you think it doesn’t suit you. I avoid yoked sweaters because I look plain awful in anything with that rounded emphasis at the neck. Peasant blouses are another example of it. As I am far from ample in the bust, I put my inability to wear a yoke down to my almost complete lack of shoulders.

It’s horrible when doctors fiddle with our medicine doses! Hope the side comes right for you and you’re able to warm up! Xxx

It’s a pretty yoke, though! And I’m glad you were bundled up and warm. It’s supposed to be 62 here today. Maybe I’ll wear shorts to our holiday event! Probably not. 😉

That’s gorgeous! I’d love to see a closeup of the yoke pattern.

  5. The sweater looks great. Wool is great at keeping you warm. It’s a shame the bust doesn’t fit well. I had that problem with the dove sweater.

  8. What a beautiful sweater! I have been using knits of all kinds and colors outside. It is so cold and damp today. I may just put on a hat

  9. I think it looks great on you! And it is warm, which is also a big deal 🙂 Sounds like you were out having fun in it, and that makes it perfect!

Maybe its different up close, but that looks good for a winter day! Keep wearing it, and maybe it will settle. Round yokes are not my favorite either.

It seems the perfect sweater for a cold day! I have a lovely cabled thing I knot in bulky yarn, a Vogue Knits pattern. I love it but I definitely don’t need the added bulk! But it is the perfect sweater for some days.
