Make Up Knitting

Remember when you were in school and you missed a day you had to do make up work. Well I spent a good chunk of yesterday doing make up knitting. I guess I knit 6-8 rows. Don’t be fooled, there are a load of stitches on the needle and it takes forever to knit a row. But as you can see the ball of yarn is getting smaller. I included a standard sized measuring tape for comparison. Later today I’ll weigh the yarn and see how close I am to the point of knitting the border. I suspect I won’t make the full 14″ for the body. The yarn ball is getting small quickly!

I always laugh how the yarn ball goes from not noticeably decreasing to suddenly decreasing quickly. It’s like there’s a magic point in there somewhere!

I think it looks good. 6 rows is a lot! So did you have the amount of yarn called for in the pattern? If you did but you haven’t enough, that is annoying!

The color is wonderful. Long rows of knitting are indeed strenuous. When I come to the end of a row I feel as if I’ve climbed a mountain.

  5. I have done make up knitting before! I have even canceled plans to do it. Granted, they weren’t exciting plans to begin with, but it is still a little crazy.

  9. Do you find that you’re knitting faster when the ball gets noticeably smaller? 😂 I caught myself doing just that! 😆
I love the rich purple of that yarn 😍

I love this colour ❤ and I'm always scared when I see the ball getting way smaller when I'm not quite finished (or close to finishing!) I don't really care for a game of yarn chicken 😅

How do you know how much you need for the border? It’s written in the pattern? That’s a helpful thing to do for knitters.
