Decision Out Of Indecision

In all my trolling around on Ravelry I rediscovered the Pogona shawl by Stephen West. I stuck the pattern in my queue and went back to poking around on family search and ancestry where I was gathering up long dead relatives but my mind kept going back to Pogona. I was feeling the pull to knit something interesting and unusual and if you’ve seen Pogona laid out flat you’ll know it’s somewhat unusual. So I wound the yarn into a ball, bought the pattern and went about doing additional research. I know better than to cast on blindly when there are so many helpful notes to read through. After making note of the ones that might be helpful to me I cast on and started the pattern as written. I like to see why people change things up. After completing a couple of inches I ripped it out. When I cast on I incorporated the the changes that I think are improvements to the pattern and knit to this point. I can see why a couple of the other suggestions were made but the tiny issues they prevent don’t bother me so I’ll be carrying on as I have been.

The plan for today is a lot of knitting, a tiny bit of house stuff and maybe (probably) some ice cream. I hope you’ve got a fun day planned.

That is a very interesting shawl, will the points make it “a have to pay close attention shawl”? I too like to go look at what others have said about the items I want to knit, just in case :). I bought some bomp pops (fruit yummy) to try to stay cool today. Yesterday and today we got to 100 and then the humidity makes it even worse :O.

I do Family Search and Ancestry as well. Found a WW1 draft document for my gggrandfather on my dad’s side! So cool to find ancestors items! Working on finding my gggrandfather’s parents on my mom’s side, he died in a very large county in TX and they didn’t have to do death certificates back then so of course he didn’t have one, ugh. Found him the year before he died on the census but the city listed was just a voting precinct because it was an unincorporated area so no city and no idea where in that county I could find the grave or a close city for an obit in their paper, double ugh. Got a long way to go to get back to Scotland :P.

Happy knitting today and Happy Memorial Day :).
