WIP Wednesday: The Rules Edition

Do you have rules about your knitting? I do. There are only a few like no bulky weight sweaters, no mohair and most importantly no kitchnering after dark. I’m just 5’1″ tall, bulky knits make me look rounder, mohair tickles my nose and kitchnering after dark leads to picking stitches out the next morning. So because of this the Easy Peasy Socks are still a WIP. But not for long!

  1. They look great!! I also have a rule that I don’t Kitchener late in the evening. I also don’t weave I. Ends until after blocking. Your socks look great!!

I have one rule. Knit what I want, not what others want. That way I won’t hate what I am knitting!

  3. Your rules make a lot of sense, and your socks are looking fantastic!

My rules are: no knitting under the influence
No top down socks (life is too short and I just don’t enjoy the cuff part) and no calling anything I’ve made ugly! ❤

lol good rules! At a lofty 5’4, I have knit the occasional bulky sweater, but I find they are TOO warm, so I don’t make them often.

    My rules –

Toe up socks – no kitchener at all!
Whenever possible, no seaming. Circular needles are my friends!
Three WIP maximum (this used to be a 2 WIP rule, but I had to expand it or be constantly in a state of broken rules)
I can say no, thank you to any project someone proposes if I want to. For no reason that I have to explain to them. This has saved me from so many mermaid blankets.

No 100% wool sweaters in anything heavier than DK — too warm. No non-conventional sweater construction — too hard to modify for better fit or to resize, There are some things I haven’t tried yet that may hit this list someday — two-sided lace, knitting with dog or other fur, mohair.

No intarsia, no lace projects, and no seaming pieces together.

No rules for me, except maybe trying new things once a year!
