FO On Thursday: Gardens Of Giverny Shawl

I finally took Tuesday morning to bind off Gardens Of Giverny. It’s a picot bind off on loads of stitches so I knew I had to set aside a good chunk of time to get it all done at once. Since it was finished I popped it into the sink with a drop or two of Eucalan and then wandered the house trying to figure out where I could block it. I can’t use the living room floor any more. Myles is too interested if you know what I mean. I ended up using the extra bed in N’s room. I’m sure he was thrilled to see a shawl blocking when he got home. Because of limited space and my tiny bit too tight edge I wasn’t able to block it as full as possible. It’s plenty big enough and looks nice.

The pattern is Gardens Of Giverny by Alina Appasova. The yarn is Lorna’s Laces Shepherd sock in color in the clouds and The Loopy Ewe solid series in iron.

Here’s a little close up showing the spots of color in the white yarn.

The pattern is well written and easy to understand. The only thing I didn’t like was the fact that the bind off instructions said what to do but not how to do it. It said to look it up online. I wouldn’t mind this in a free pattern but I think a pattern that you pay for should include all the instructions to complete the project.

Both skeins of yarn were from stash so as of now I have used 3 of the 9 skeins I want to use from stash this year.

The adjectives I was considering have already been used – stunning, beautiful, gorgeous, magnificent – and I agree. Also agree with your comments on the lack of instructions for the edging.

OK, so all those photos you have posted previously did not do this justice. Probably because it was all smooshed up. This is absolutely stunning. I love your choice of yarn. Was this the project that you were getting tired of? Way to go!
