Monday Q & A On Tuesday

I have been reading these on the Compassionknit blog and this weeks questions spoke to me.

*Do you remember a bad sunburn?

Yes, but only from seeing the photos and hearing the stories. See photo above. I was 6 months old. We were staying at my aunt’s cottage in Maine. I was dressed in pants, shirt, jacket with a hood and socks sitting in a playpen under an umbrella. My 3 month old cousin was laying on a blanket in a diaper in the sun. I got fried. She got nothing. The doctor scraped off the blisters with a tongue depressor. That was the first of many sunburns.

*What is the last game you played?  (card game or board game)

Crimes Against Humanity a while back.

*Do you have a statue in your house of any kind?

Yes. Dogs, saints, ducks and a moose. They are all quite small.

*Have you seen the new needle that threads your safety line for lace?

No. I might need one though.

*Why do they call them point protectors when they are really protecting the stitches from falling off?

I don’t know. I have my mother’s but sadly the rubber is brittle.

*What kind of knitting or crocheting has dominated your summer?

Camp Loopy all the way! So far two shawls and a pair of socks. There is a sweater on the horizon.

*Have you seen an ice cream truck this summer?

I did but it was driving in traffic.

*Cold summer salad preference: Pasta salad or bean salad or fruit salad?

Fruit salad all the way!

*Your favorite summer sandals are made by _____

I’m a sneaker wearer. The only sandals I own are the $1.00 flip flops from Old Navy.

*Do you have a favorite old photograph taken in the summer ?

Not the one above! Probably one of H & N when we were on vacation in PA. We went about 6 years in a row and I took their photo standing in the same place. It was fun to see how much they’d grown and changed.

OMG, that sunburn! How very scary for your mom! And how the heck did you get a burn like that with all those clothes and an umbrella????

Considering the burn, you look quite comfortable and almost relaxed about the whole thing.

Wow, that was a serious sunburn – good thing you can’t really remember it. There is an ice cream truck that comes down our street, then goes up the street behind our house, then up the street beside our house, so for about 5 minutes each day I get to hear the ice cream truck. It never seems to stop anywhere, though. I think the driver goes too fast and doesn’t give the kiddies enough time to get out to the street!

  7. I may have gotten a sunburn once when I was little, but I don’t remember it. My grandmother had a “thing” about getting tan. “Bie mir siehst du aus wie ein Feld Arbeiter.” To me, you are a field hand. I did get a rip-roaring case of poison ivy when I was about eight. Search my blog for “poison ivy”. I was bee-you-tea-full!
