Naknicromo Day 2: Inspiration

Like many knitters/crochetists I get much of my inspiration from Ravelry. I can, and have, spent many, many hours looking at patterns and projects. My favorite thing to do is find a pattern I like and then look at the projects that others have made to see what colors have been used and what yarns. Along the way I look at helpful projects and favorited projects. If I need more information I’ll read the comments and forum posts. In the event I have concerns I’ll read the notes on the frogged projects to see if there is a problem trend. 

A few years ago I found myself in a knitting rut. I just kept knitting socks. Pair after pair. Nothing but socks. Then I discovered The Loopy Ewe. Sheri does a wonderful job inspiring all those that read her blog or visit her shop. In the summer she runs Camp Loopy, during the rest of the year she runs Loopy Academy and Loopy’s Monthly Mixer. Through these events I have knit things I’ve loved but would never have thought to knit. Yes, I can’t believe I knit gloves. I never would have knit them if it wasn’t for the Loopy Academy requirement. 

Another way I get inspired is at Knit Night. Seeing projects and yarns in person has really opened my eyes to all the possibilities out there that I might not otherwise notice. Holding something in your hand can be very inspiring.
