Christmas Eve In Review

The Husband was off from work Christmas Eve so we made the most of the day. In the morning while The Husband and I ran a few last minute errands H and N put together this little gingerbread house kit we had picked up at Trader Joe’s early in the month. They liked doing it but liked decorating the gingerbread ugly sweaters more. Maybe next year we’ll try doing it entirely from scratch. We’ll have to see what we think as next Christmas approaches.

Late in the afternoon we went out for dinner and then we went to see the Zoolights exhibit. Our zoo has been doing this for years. This was my first time and I thought it was fun walking through the zoo at night. Most of the animals weren’t visible. They’d probably already gone to sleep. We did see the above flamingos. They were chirping (?) and mainly standing around. I think we were disturbing their beauty sleep. There was a tribe of Colobus monkeys that were wide awake and causing trouble. There was quite a crowd of humans watching their antics. We got fairly close to a reindeer. I don’t know how Santa can keep a bunch of them. The smell was epic. Over all it was fun and I’d love to go again next year.

Nice gingerbread house! I didn’t know the zoo had flamingos. They were probably chirping because they wanted to fly somewhere warmer (which doesn’t sound like a bad idea!).

  2. The gingerbread house is wonderful. The idea of running round a zoo in the dark is fabulous – my daughter would love that. I will have to see if London Zoo does a similar thing.
I understand that Santas sense of smell has diminished as he is so ancient 🙂
