Taking Chances And Other Things

Puerperium is moving along quickly. I’ve separated for the sleeves and started the body. I’m taking a chance and setting it aside for a couple of days to concentrate on the Sweet Summer Shawl. I’m hoping the doctor was correct when she said the little one will be on the inside a bit longer even though the mother is having a few contractions. The mother hopes to hang on until after Christmas, and God willing, after New Years for the arrival. Maybe my holding up the knitting will hold up the baby a bit too.

The small Christmas cactus on the dining room table has bloomed! The other small one that resides in the living room has a couple of buds. The big one still has none.

As we head into the home stretch before Christmas I think I’ve got things pretty well in hand. This week will include baking, grocery shopping and gift wrapping. But first we’ll have a little celebrating as today is my birthday. That calls for cake which we will enjoy this evening.

Happy Christmas Birthday – I have one of those too but mine is 10 days after Christmas. We are special people – we don’t get a lot of fuss at birthdays!

  4. I hope your birthday was lovely! We have two Christmas cactuses and both are blooming now. One bloomed just before Thanksgiving in late November but “saved” a few blossoms for this week. Whenever the baby arrives, I hope she and Mama are healthy.

Happy birthday! Don’t worry about you big cactus, they will take a year off now and again. We had one at the office that was quite temperamental. It bloomed maybe three times at it house, and then they brought it in to the office and it bloomed every year!

Oh, buns in the oven are so funny, aren’t they? My SIL looks like she’s ready to drop but she still has a few more weeks to go. But this is kid number three; I hope it’s a boy.
