The Ignored WIP

The Knotty Gloves. Remember those? They have been languishing in my knitting bag for weeks, ignored and unloved. It’s the fingers. They’re fiddly and I am not a fan of fiddly at the moment. I had to come up with a plan or I wouldn’t get these done by the time this semester of Loopy Academy ends. I put the hand on stitch holders, once I’d finished that one finger, and cast on the second one. The plan is to knit it up to the fingers and then do all 9 remaining fingers at once. The reasons are multiple: I can knit the main part as a take along project, all the fingers will end up being knit the same way and the fingers won’t seem like a lot to do if the rest of the gloves are done. Sometimes I have to trick myself to get things done. How about you?

  1. Good plan. I knit pairs of gloves and socks both at the same time(ish) – so both ribs, then both up a stage, then both to the next stage…I don’t think I’d ever make the second one otherwise!

I think that’s a great plan. The few times that I’ve knit socks, I did them both at the same time (on two sets of dpn’s). When you are down to only the fingers, you will be motivated to get them finished!

An excellent plan. I like to lump similar tasks together so they’re not interrupted; I’d rather weave in all the ends of a project at once than to weave in ends a section at a time as I finish them. Weaving in ends (or knitting fingers) has a different rhythm than just knitting & I find it easier to get into if I know I won’t have to do it again.

  4. Well done, great plan. I do not think I will attend fingers any time soon. Yes, to fiddly for me for sure. The pattern and yarn is stunning, and I love these very much. Fabulous. Have a great week and all the best with finishing those fingers. 🙂

I’ve not been brave enough to try gloves…😳

I wonder if knitters have second mitten syndrome as much as second sock syndrome? If I’m working on something, I like to get to a certain point before putting it aside.
