At Knit Night we were talking about the squirrels that visit my yard. I have been feeding them off and on for the past couple of years. They aren’t tame but they do come to the door looking for something to snack on. They are pleasantly plump and look quite healthy. But I really want to know how do they keep their white bellies so clean?

Cute picture. 🙂 We have several squirrels in the back that enjoy raiding the bird feeders. I enjoy watching their antics, but Miss Sydney is less amused. She sends them scurrying up the trees as often as she can.

Looks like the birds are trying to get in on the action too! Those are some well fed squirrels!

The mystery of the white bellies? Chalk it up to one of the great secrets of the world … like how on earth they get the caramel in the Caramilk bars! 😉

Actually if you had the chance to examine them really closely, like upon discovery and necessary “present removal” from a feline friend, you would observe that the tummies are actually quite dingy and dusty. They just really look cleaner than they are.

Contented looking buddies at your place indeed.

dang they are cute. we have the gray critters out here, but usually they are a red brown. No visitors in our apartment building area, but we have humming birds and there has been a very large macho raccoon seen digging in planters and scratching at back doors.

haha so cute. We have a lot of them around here, but we don’t feed them. There’s bunnies too! I think they like our garden.
