Camp Loopy Project #2

I have finally started my Camp Loopy Project number 2. Well, actually I started it  last week but this is the first time I have shown you anything as proof. For those that don’t bother reading links, this second project is to be a popular pattern that passed you by. I have skipped a fair number of popular projects at the time they were popular so picking out a pattern wasn’t too hard. I knew I wanted to knit another shawl, something fun and casual that I might really use. I decided on Daybreak by Stephen West. I am using The Loopy Ewe Solid Series yarn in blackberry and smoke. The pattern is easy and straight forward though that doesn’t mean the going has been simple. It has taken me four tries to finally get one that stuck. I was having trouble with the m1 increases. These have never been my friend. I have a mental block with left and right. No really, not just with knitting. I have left/right issues. Just ask The Husband about driving when I’m in the passenger seat giving directions. Yes, I can get anywhere. I just can’t tell you which way to go without using pointing and landmarks. So getting those m1l and m1r correct was a challenge. I had to name them something else. Now they are called front and back. I can do front and back.

Wow, I am speechless. I have the exact same issue with the m1 increases and I too renamed them in my head “front and back”…it’s funny that we both did the same thing without consulting each other first :).

I love that color, ‘smoke’ is very pretty. I’m knitting a Stephen West pattern too, Boneyard. I started out with a different pattern but quickly realized it wasn’t doing it for me.

I can’t wait to see what’s next for Camp Loopy project 3!

Very nice progress on your Daybreak. The m1 increases always slow me down. I substitute kfb when I can, but lots of times that doesn’t work. I’ll remember the “front and back” trick.

I have that same problem with left and right, it’s terrible for giving speedy instructions to a poor unsuspecting driver. Also East and West, for some reason. I’ll just always go East no matter which direction I’m told.

You’re making good progress! While I don’t usually have trouble with the m1’s, I do have right and left issues otherwise. It drives my husband nuts because I usually drive while he navigates. He’ll tell me to turn right, I start to turn left, he’ll say “no, your other right!” 😉

m1l and m1r get me messed up too, all the time. However, I love Stephen Wests patterns, I even own a few, but have yet to make any…

Is this project 2 or the first one? I can’t wait to see the mix of your other colors.
