It’s About Time*

We’ve lived in our house for nearly 20 years. One of the things I really liked about the house when we looked at it was the long porch along the back of the house. It isn’t an easy space for us. Everyone tends to drop stuff out there and I let it go a lot in the winter but once the weather turns warmer I want to use this space. We eat meals out there once the temperature gets warm enough and H and N like to sit out there when they have friends over. The table is great for knitting, computer use, and games. The only drawback we’ve dealt with is the lack of lighting. There is only one built in light and it’s located by the door leaving the majority of the porch in the dark once the sun goes down. I was reading blogs one day and happened on this post about creating an outdoor space and I knew exactly what to do for lighting.

We went to Target and bought two sets of these lights and The Husband hung them at ceiling height around the end of the porch we use for sitting. They provide a bit of something fun and interesting and plenty of light to a space that was lost to us once the sun went down.

*Photos were taken in such a way to hide the clutter and highlight the lighting.
