FO Friday: Two!

I did it! I completed the two projects that I mentioned on Wednesday. First we have the Miss Babs socks. They are knit with Miss Babs Yummy sock yarn in the Nell colorway. The yarn was a bit heavier than what I usually use so I cast on 60 sts and then followed the pattern in my head. They are going to be very warm and I can already tell you they are very soft and comfy. Second we have the Quick & Easy scarf from the Dale of Norway kit I won from Coveted Yarn. It is knit with Ara bulky yarn in color 23063. When looking for a link to this yarn I did discover that it has been discontinued. I followed the directions for the scarf as written though I did cut the fringe before I completed the scarf so I could use every inch of the yarn.To be quite honest I’m glad the scarf is done. I wasn’t thrilled with the yarn. It is soft but it is also a thick and thin yarn, think fingering to bulky, and when knitting it there are spots on the scarf where thin yarn meets thin yarn and thick yarn meets thick yarn. This drove me crazy! I am a person who likes nice neat even stitches. This is NOT that. I did enjoy it for what it was though, a quick and easy project.

I know the feeling, I had a thick and thin scarf I made last winter and it was really annoying. I Love the color though, and those socks look beautiful too!

Ara Bulky sounds almost like Malabrigo’s Merino Worsted where the yarn’s not the same thickness throughout.
Warm and comfy socks? Can’t beat that. How wonderful for your footsies!

Comfy socks make for happy toesies!
I don’t like thick and thin yarn especially when it isn’t supposed to be that way.
    Great looking projects!
Hope your neck is feeling ok now…

I do like the scarf. I think it’s one of those things that I wouldn’t necessarily think of buying/knitting myself, but that would be a fun break from my other knitting. I enjoy kntting with different yarns every now and then, just to try a different feel in my hands.
