Yarn Crawl 2012

I am not proud. I did not practice restraint. The original plan was to hit a couple of local shops, my favorite shop and two shops I had never visited before. That is not what happened. I hit the local shops on Friday. It was nice to visit the familiar places and see what they had. I picked up a few things and at some point while I was breathing the yarn fumes I decided that hitting a few shops on Saturday would be a good idea. My mother and N joined me. We hit five shops. Of course two of those were the ones I’d never been to and one was too crowded to even look around. Sunday I had originally planned to hit my favorite shop which is a bit farther a field than I normally travel when I looking for a quick yarn fix. After having visited eight of the twelve shops over two days I decided to go ahead and just visit the final four. It’s a special event I told myself. It’s important to shop locally and really these are all my LYSs. Or maybe I have no self-control. Something like that. So what did I get? Not shown is a gift. The other things are a skein of Cascade Heritage in color 5613, a skein of Bashful Bags and Fiber in pinks, a skein of Toil and Trouble in The Hath, two skeins of Berroco Comfort worsted weight in 9752 and 9740, a skein of Cascade 220 superwash in 893, 2 skeins of Regia design line jazz color in 6451, a skein of Zauberball, a skein of Malabrigo worsted in black, a 4 oz braid of Mad Color Fiber Arts polwarth wool combed top (the fiber and the Malabrigo will be thrummed mittens), a skein of Regia BlitzColor in 2526, 2 skeins of Jamieson’s double knitting in purple haze and thistledown, a small plastic notions case for stitch markers and 2 patterns: Cottage Creations Scandinavian Cardigan and Hannah Fettig’s sunnyside cardigan.

The yarn crawl is so much fun and a great excuse to visit the Northshore area of Massachusetts in the spring. Though I’d be happy to visit these shops any time.

I’m so jealous, I wish I had enough yarn stores even remotely near me to do a yarn crawl… Although perhaps my stash should be grateful I don’t!

And for visiting that many stores, it looks to me like you were very restrained šŸ˜‰

That does sound like fun! They did one of those here back in October, but I missed it. I’m planning one for the summer though.

Sometimes you just have to treat yourself! All those purchases look like great buys and I’m sure you’ll use it all šŸ™‚

I have 3, maybe 4 shops that I could call LYS, 2 of them are an hour away. The one that is truly local I can’t stand the owner. I will go there if I have to, but not by choice. You are toooo lucky!!!! But, then again, there is always WEBs online! And I can travel 3+ hours and visit 5 more shops.

    Damn lady you did good!
Why not go all out and see everything? It’s a special event and darn it, why leave yourself in a state of never ending curiosity if you didn’t go visit all the shops?
