FO Friday: One Down

Yesterday I had my annual visit with my thyroid specialist. This means a couple of things. First it’s been about 15 years since I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. I feel good and I am healthy. Second I have a huge sore bruise where they took my blood at the lab. It wasn’t so sore that I couldn’t knit though. When I got home I treated myself to a nice afternoon and evening of knitting. There may have been some ice cream too.

With all this knitting time I was able to complete my plain socks. That’s one wearable item towards my goal. The yarn is Carriage House Woolens (now Pandoras Yarn) CoolWool in hunters glen. The yarn is very nice to knit with and I really like the way it feels. The pattern is just my standard plain stockinette sock.

I have cast on something new which is a super secret project. I won’t be able to share IT for a while. Hopefully IT won’t take too long and then I’ll be back working on my goal projects.

Yarn PSA: Yesterday I wore my TGIS Day socks knit in the ravelry red Malabrigo yarn. ย I suggest based on my experience and red feet that you soak your ravelry red Malabrigo FO’s for a bit to see if the dye has set before you toss them in the washer with everything else. Thankfully only my feet turned red and not an entire washing machine load of hand knit socks.

It’s cold today, I too am wearing some nice warm wool socks, though not pretty ones like yours, and not ones I take credit in making. One day, I will…one day. They look awesome.

Yay for health! I hate it when they blow a vein when taking my blood. I still have faint marks from unsuccessful IV insertions.

Do you have those Shout Color Catchers? They catch all the dye that comes out of things (handknit or not)…they’re lovely ๐Ÿ™‚

I’m glad your visit to the doctor went (mostly) well! I hate needles, and I have apparently awkward veins so I hate having blood taken! The socks look fantastic – I really love the colour ๐Ÿ™‚
