I have never been very good about setting goals with my knitting and following through. I don’t know if it’s the structure added to something I consider a pleasure that does me in or what. I have so many UFOs sitting around that I love and want to finish but I can’t seem to find the will to knit them. I’ve also had the itch to buy some new yarn. I have plenty of things going and stash yarn waiting in the wings. So I have decided to set a goal or make a deal or something. Here is the plan:
For each wearable item I complete that is already in progress I will treat myself to one skein of yarn. If I can get three or four things done or both sweaters I will place an order with The Loopy Ewe. This is on top of the North Shore Yarn Crawl which is next month and I have already planned to buy a few things then.
The key words there are complete and already in progress so anything newly cast on will not count. Ripping does not count. Also yarn purchased to knit gifts and gift knitting that hasn’t been cast on already doesn’t count. Wish me luck…
Here is a list of most of it:
- Cassidy sweater
- White Pine sweater
- Kandahar socks
- plain socks in Carriage House yarn
- Fiddlehead mittens
- Bláthnat socks
- Nadine socks
- Posey Pin cushion
I ditched the Blathnat socks. Got all the way to the toes and decided to try them on…..um, yeah, couldn’t even get it over my heel!! Stupid mistake…you’d think that I’d know better with 30 years of knitting under my belt…:( Anyway, good luck on your knitting goals!! You can do it!!

Tell you what, if you finish the Cassidy sweater (that’s the one I want to see most, I’m selfish) I will make chocolate eclairs for us all for the first time. There’s another incentive.

I’m terrible at making plans and then changing my mind, it just doesn’t work for me. But I have some goals (patterned socks, fair isle, cabling without a cable needle) that I would like to get round to this year.
I think new yarn is an excellent motivator!

Ohh…I hope your plan works…I’ve been waiting to see how the Cassidy sweater and the fiddlehead mittens turn out! 😉
Good Luck!

Sounds like a great plan!! I have several projects that are started that need attention too. Maybe you will inspire me to tackle them!

Noble plans all, may the force be with you, 3-D or not!

Ooooh! Eclairs! Talk about sweetening the pot!
I say ripping *should* count, and the Blathnat socks should be toast. Also, I’d have helped seam White Pine while I was there, you know.

Good luck! :O)
There is a sock pattern I want to try one day – Criminally Mindless by Kathleen Baer. Two women of the knitting group I hang out with are knitting it. It’s toe up and for the heel flap and all that it’s about increasing and decreasing, no picking up sts or whatever. I was fascinated although I like a good ol’ traditional sock.
