We had a very pleasant weekend. There was a little something for everyone to enjoy which always makes it nice.
Saturday was the cub scout Pinewood Derby. The husband spent the day working the event. N and I went down for his den’s races. His car did very well. He ran three heats and got two second place and one first place. His best showing yet. His car is a Gogos car. He and the husband spent much time cutting, sanding, painting and decorating. It’s always a lot of fun to see the races. The kids (and dads) put in a lot of hard work on their cars. N is already planning what they’ll do next year.
Sunday we took a ride to our favorite little out of the way super secret antique store and discovered that not only has it changed owners but it is now open every day. I guess it won’t be our secret for long. I did manage to score the above Brookpark melamine bowl. It’s shown with my other bowl for scale. The new one is larger but it isn’t perfect. The bottom seems to have come in contact with a stove burner and has the scorches to prove it. Since we use this stuff and don’t just collect it I figured it didn’t matter. I look forward to serving up a very large salad in it.
The final thing is a little mystery that after months has been solved. H mislaid her Nintendo DS and all the games during the summer. She knew she’d had it before she went to camp in June but when she returned home in August she couldn’t find them. She also swore she hadn’t taken them to camp. She looked over every inch of her room as did the husband and I when H returned to school. Finally we reached the point where we said it will turn up and we stopped looking. When moving the car seat to make more room in the front the husband eyed something plastic under the seat. There was the plastic box with the DS and all the games, 8 months since it’s last sighting. We guess H took the DS and games in the car at some point in the days leading up to camp and slid the box under the seat when we parked some place. Well that’s one mystery solved.
