Welcome To Sleeve Island

Hardly anyone talks about Sleeve Island anymore. What is Sleeve Island you ask? Sleeve Island is a destination all knitters look forward to. It’s the point you reach when the body of your sweater is done and you just have to knit two sleeves. It seems like a lovely spot all warm and sunshiny with umbrella drinks, silky soft sand beneath your feet and a glistening ocean all around because you have nearly finished your sweater and we all know what a high that is. But in reality sleeves are kind of big. In this pattern there are more stitches in the sleeves than there are in the front pieces. So in actuality Sleeve Island is merely an illusion. There may be warm sunny beaches but watch out, that ocean is full of sharks.

One more increase and then knit to the length of my fairly short arm.

Cassidy knit in Ella Rae classic color 133 brick.  Listed here not because I think you can’t remember what I’m knitting or I can’t remember what I’m knitting but because every time I put the links someone clicks them:)

I’ve never heard of sleeve island before…it sounds like a wonderful place! 😉 What I thought of though, when I saw the ruler, was the black hole of knitting where you knit and knit and knit and never seem to get anywhere. I’m glad you’re visiting sleeve island and not the black hole! 😀

Sleeve island works better on full sweaters rather than cardigans I think 😉

I am trying to remember to include links when I post about my projects – mainly because very time I forget, someone new reads my blog and asks what the pattern is!

This is why I knit short cap sleeves. 😉

  4. I’d never heard of sleeve island before… it seems kind of like a mirage. It seems like it will be a wonderful place but then you have to watch out that your experience there is a good one. Good luck on the sleeves!

That’s why I like baby knits. The sleeves take no time at all! I am also thinking, sweaters without sleeves are a possible in my future. Not a vest, so much as a sleeveless sweater. Make sense?

If you go to sleeve island, I go to sleeve prison! I always get hung up on the sleeves… it’s so hard for me to finish them after all the fun of the body! Your sweater looks lovely so far, can’t wait to see the finished product!
