Duck And Cover

Yesterday was a Manic Monday in every sense of the word. I started the day by Christmas shopping online. I charged at my favorite retailers the things I think my family would like*. Then I ventured out into the world to pick up the Christmas cards and do some grocery shopping. Again all on the credit card. When I got home there were questionable things in the mail so I checked the credit card statement online. Things went downhill from there. I am now sitting here waiting for Fed-Ex to bring me my new credit card. I’ll spend the next few months wondering when the next fraudulent charge will occur**.

The afternoon, why yes, all that took place before noon, involved picking N up at school, rushing home for homework and then out to drop him off at CCD and home to start dinner and back out to pick him up. We had finally eaten and were done with our day at 7. I’m no fool. I quickly jumped into bed with my yarn and the sock. I knit happily while watching DVR-ed repeats of Ally McBeal. Let’s hope things are better today.***

*Or in H’s case, I click the links to the things she emails to me.

**The actual bad stuff started a few weeks ago. I thought it was taken care of but it wasn’t.

***I am ignoring the odd swirling thing that the yarn is doing. I suspect it is from the fuzzy lumps I found in the yarn. There were some odd joins, 4 I think, in the second half of the ball. They are socks to be worn under the legs of pants by a boy who will outgrown them in couple of months. They are not going to be judged by a panel of expert sock knitters. They just have to warm feet. If they are weird or ugly so be it.

Hope you get the credit card straightened out. Sounds like a bad deal.

You are totally right about the socks…I’ve decided that between how the yarn is dyed (length of colors) and any knots involved, that certain yarn will pool no matter what you do to it. So I just live with it.
