Last week N was on vacation from school. Again time got away from me. Again we were sick. At least there was knitting.
These are the Primavera socks knit in Trekking number 68. The pattern is easy to remember and fun to knit. I highly recommend them. As you can see the stitch pattern has plenty of stretch. I think they’d be a great gift sock but these are mine mine mine. The second sock has gone so quickly too.
We did manage to squeeze in a couple of fun things last week. N had a friend over for a couple of hours one day. They had a nice time. Another day we went to the Franklin Park Zoo. It was a beautiful day. We had a great time. I have to admit one of the coolest things we saw happened at the tiger enclosure. The male tiger was very agitated pacing back and forth in a small area. There was a large crowd so we didn’t see right away what was causing this behavior. When we moved through the crowd we noticed a woman with her service dog. I think the tiger thought someone had brought him a little snack.
This isn’t the most attractive photo but I wanted to show you the clematis I planted last year. It’s on the right. I am truly surprised it has survived and even thrived. It was doing so well that I picked up a couple more and planted them in the same area. They are just starting off so they don’t look like much. In the next couple of weeks I hope to plant some annuals to shade the base of the plants and hide that nasty looking dirt.
One last thing. We’ve had some really hot unseasonable weather the last few days. It was over 90 degrees which is so unusual for April. This caused a few of my plants to go crazy. This is the peony plant that I’ve shared photos of in the past. I think it normally flowers in late May but this year if the weather stays nice we should have flowers next week. The buds are getting ready to pop open. After the cold, snowy winter I am really enjoying watching spring arrive.
