A Quick Update With Knitting

I have been going back and forth about what to do about the blog. I miss making regular updates but time to do so has been hard to come by. A decision has been made. I paid for another year this morning,  downloaded Firefox which will allow me to blog from the Mac and I have promised myself I will make time at least a couple of times per week.

The photo on the left is the Lace and Rib Knee Sock which didn’t work out. I really liked knitting it and the yarn is yummy. In the end the fact that the sock is knit as a tube with no shaping and my calf has shaping is what did it in. I briefly considered just continuing with shorter socks but in the end decided no.

I laid N’s sweater out on the blocking board and gave it a light blocking. I really want to make seaming the pieces together as easy as possible so that I’ll do a reasonable good job. Seaming is not something I like to do or am good at. I need all the help I can get. Hopefully I can get this seamed by the end of the week so he can wear it at least once before it gets too hot to get him in a wool sweater.

When the knee sock failed I had to cast on another sock. I wanted something that would work out. Something that was knit with yarn I had. Something that was fail proof. Enter Primavera Socks . The pattern calls for Trekking XXL yarn and I had this skein in the stash. The pattern is easy to knit and works up fairly quickly. I am very happy with how it looks. So far it’s a winner.

I am still spending a lot of time dealing with my father and his health. He had a procedure done last week which resulted in a 7 hour visit to the emergency room that night. At least now he seems stable.

Easter was very nice. H took a theater class this term and the show was over the weekend so she wasn’t available until Sunday monring. We picked her up and then went to dinner at my parent’s house. After visiting a while we drove her back to school. Speaking of schhol, she only has 3 more weeks and then it’s summer break. I can’t believe how quickly this school year has passed.
